Child abuse and neglect have been a self inflicted pains and socio-psychological flagellation in mind of so many Nigerians which demands for an urgent remedy to save this generation and the posterity of Nigerian children from unwholesome human rights abuse. The incidence of child abuse and neglect are fast proliferating and escalating into syndicated modes to compensate for a society where about seventy percent of her population are living in a state of penury, who rely on the proceed of the street hawking by their children or wards to make both ends meet. The aggravated nature of this issue demand for urgent Government attention, but their concerted efforts to reduce these physical abuses yielded little or no result. The physical injuries, abandonment and molestation as the precipice of child labour abound as a result of unemployment and poverty. Child abuse and neglect are very endemic in Nigeria society and for the Government to curb this ugly trend, it demands a stringent bill that must be passed into law, that will provide punitive measures forbidding any Nigerian parents from forcing their children into child labour and other range of child neglects.
