Eli Tønnessen Berntsen was born 24.12.81 in Grimstad, Norway. After her bachelor degree in development studies at Oslo College, she travelled to Durban, South Africa where she did her masters degree. This thesis is a product of her studies and travels around the globe. She currently lives and works in her hometown.
