Fairy Tales: The Magic Mirror synthesizes psychological and literary research from Freud, Bettleheim and Egan and puts it in a context that can help parents and teachers more effectively use stories at home and at school. Davison's work presents a deeper meaning to common fairy tales and an understanding of where they fit into a child's psychological development. It can be used as a handbook on its own or a springboard for analyzing and evaluating stories which can pose as scaffolding for the psychological development of children.

Autorenporträt
Claudia Davison has spent fifteen years teaching high school and middle school in Toronto. She has focussed on the influence of stories on children especially the possibilities of using Bible Stories, ancient myths and fairy tales for the purposes of educational enrichment and psychological scaffolding. The author has three children, Jumaani, Skaai and Canaan and has written and ever increasing collection of stories for them that she sometimes uses in her classroom teaching. The best ones are always the ones that the children ask "tell me a story from your own mouth" where new worlds fantastically appear and become a playground for the imagination.
