In South Africa, children are counted among most vulnerable people. Due to realities of gender violence and discriminations, young girls are in one way or another affected by HIV and AIDS, human trafficking, prostitution, rape, poverty, and family breakdown. This book investigates negative impact of these social issues on the children and explores areas of interventions including establishment of shelters-crisis centers. It commends the role played by Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) in South Africa for their services go beyond providing shelters to vulnerable young girls. The model of Lerato House shelter hosted by Tshwane Leadership Foundation and The Haven hosted by Free Methodist Church of Southern Africa is based on empowering young girls to play a role in their own liberation. FBOs are committed to support services, healing, education and life skills. FBOs are also involved in consciousness raising, awareness campaign and advocacy for children's rights. This book is useful, especially to organizations working with vulnerable children, church leaders, parents and advocates for children's rights. Join us to "make the world a better place."
