The Falcon 9 is a reusable two-stage-to-orbit, liquid oxygen (LOX) and rocket-grade kerosene (RP-1) powered launch vehicle manufactured by SpaceX. It is scheduled to have its maiden launch in 2010. Multiple variants are planned with payloads of between 10,450 kg and 26,610 kg to low Earth orbit, and between 4,540 kg and 15,010 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. The Falcon 9 will be the launch vehicle for the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The Falcon 9 and Dragon combination won a Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract from NASA to resupply the International Space Station under the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program. Currently SpaceX is holding a March 8th launch window for the maiden flight of Falcon 9.
