This collection of poems was inspired by the early death of our son Alasdair in Athens last October. It is in four sections. The first consists of poems about the late autumn to winter season, some echoing our loss. This is followed by a section titled 'Africa', based on my experiences growing up there, and my continuing commitment to its cause. 'Protest' reflects on environmental and political issues in the modern world, while the final section, 'Fancy', is a collection of genuinely light-hearted and whimsical verses that offset the serious tone of the rest. Several have a Greek setting. These verses are a very late poetry debut for the author, who is more accustomed to writing about history.
