They live in separate cities, come from disparate cultures, and have trouble just getting along, never mind navigating a relationship. Sambit is convinced the end of the assignment will be the end for them as well-and despite their many differences, he's beginning to wonder how he'll survive the fallout once Derek leaves him behind.

Lorsqu' Ariel Tachna avait douze ans, elle a découvert deux choses : la langue française et les romans d'amour. Ces deux amours l'ont définie depuis. Au moment où elle terminait le lycée, elle avait écrit quatre romans que personne ne voudrait lire aujourd'hui, mettant en vedette une jeune femme qui était - vous l'aurez deviné - bilingue. Cette fille était tout ce qu'Ariel voulait être à douze ans et qu'elle n'était pas. Elle vit maintenant dans la banlieue de Houston avec son mari (qui parle également français), ses enfants (qui comprennent le français, même lorsqu'ils sont trop paresseux pour le parler) et leurs deux chiens (qui refusent obstinément de répondre aux ordres en français).
