M. Sue Alexander was born in West Tennessee and grew up at Western State Mental Hospital where her father was the resident dentist. She attributes her extreme imagination to her interaction with patients who invented wild tales she could never confirm. She graduated from Central High School in Bolivar, TN, earned a B.S. from Union University, and a Masters in Administration from the University of Memphis.
