Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa had its origin in China. It is related to spiritual and physical well being, with a tradition in China predating the Christian era. It is often referred to as Chinese Yoga. The modified version of Falung Dafa was introduced by Li Hongzhi of China in the year 1992. Falun Gong came to news and was given wide coverage by the International media on April 1999 when some of its members demonstrated openly against the Chinese Government at the heart of Beijing. The Chinese government took a serious note of it and invoked ban on it by charging its practitioners of besieging news agencies, publishing houses, political party and Government departments and disrupting the normal course of work, social order and stability. Since then Falun Gong has been banned in China. Though the Chinese Government has banned this organization, Falun Gong practitioners all across the globe think that it will remain popular despite governmental opposition in the years to come. The book throws light upon the genesis and brief overview of Falun Gong and the responses of the Chinese Government towards its practitioners followed by the reactions against the crackdown.
