The present study was conducted during the year 2012-13 in selected agro-climatic zones of northern Karnataka to delineate the areas of participation of farm women in organic and conventional farming. The Family Quality Index was developed to assess the impact of organic farming on farm families. The results revealed that farm women have a major role in organic farming and are involved in almost all the activities from seed to plate. The farmers' shift to organic farming had a positive impact on the Family Quality Index of farm families. This calls for farmers' sensitization and encouragement to adopt organic farming that will not only cater to food and nutritional security but also the quality life of farming families and sound management of the environment.
