By evaluating current promotions at an English rugby league team and then analysing opinions and motives to attendance, the study provides insights into fans perceptions at an English rugby league club. Season ticket holders and casual fans were sampled. Results suggested that once fans had knowledge and understanding of promotions at Team X they had a favourable opinion of them. However, the complexity and clarity of promotions were an issue with a high majority of fans which caused a lot of negativity towards promotions.
