The problem of the shortage of labor resources and methods of its solution at different stages of the industry development are comprehensively considered. A retrospective analysis of the use of foreign labor, hired and forced labor in the conditions of the colonization of the Far East is carried out. Mass repressions in the gold mining industry of the Far East are considered as an integral part of state policy during the period of forced industrialization. The book is written on the basis of a significant set of archival and published sources and is addressed to historians dealing with the problems of industrial development in Russia.
