Meenakshi Raina was born in Jammu but spent her childhood years in India's beautiful Kashmir Valley. After the foreign-instigated insurgency in the Valley in 1990s, she migrated to Jammu and later settled in Canada. Many of her poems speak longingly about her lost homeland in Kashmir - where terrorists still run amok. Meenakshi's hybrid identity as an Indo-Canadian creates a unique fusion of imagery from the lands to the East and West. As she says: "The poems in 'Far In The Meadows and other poems' are an attempt to bring trials and tribulations, nature and beauty, love and loss in one spectrum." Readers will experience a rollercoaster ride full of emotions and lessons from life. There are poems that bring hope and delight along with poems that confront pain and endless longing. 'Far In The Meadows and other poems' - is a collection of 90 selected poems that revolve around three segments - Love, Life and Longing. With just limited words, Meenakshi says, a lot can be said and words have the power to comfort and bring hope. This collection of poems is her second publication after the historical fiction -'The Divine And The Destiny'.
