The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences, challenges, and insights of ageing farmers in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, Japan. This study was primarily directed to explore the central research questions namely: (1) What are the experiences, difficulties, challenges, and insights of ageing farmers in Yokotte City? (2) How are they coping with the challenges and difficulties affecting their farming practices, efficiency, and yield? This study is also aimed at validating the hypothesis that farming at an old age requires more courage, strength, time, and adaptability and that various challenges and difficulties arise such as gaps between the farmers of old age and the "supposed to be next generation of farmers"-the successors.
