The aim of this book is to encourage fathers to think about means of achieving effective communication and a positive relationship with their children. Father Involvement Training aimed to help fathers acquire substantial knowledge and behaviors to improve their relationships with their children and to support their children the social skills necessary for successful peer group interaction. Over the course of the training, 14 separate skills were introduced. Each session was comprised of a brief discussion of homework assignments, introduction of the session theme and a related scenario, a discussion of skills strategies included in the scenario, and a discussion of similarities and differences in the participating fathers' experiences with their children.
