Autorenporträt
Charles Lopez was born to Cuban immigrants who settled in New York City before the Revolution. After his parents divorced and he returned from an extended stay in Cuba, he began learning to speak English. Five years later his mother remarried, he moved to New Jersey and became known as Charles Bruns. He began working as a journalist while a teenager and launched his corporate communication career during college. Along the way, he married and raised a family. But he never stopped thinking about who he is and what he isn't or writing in his second language. Fatherlands: Identities of a Cuban American is his debut book.
