"Fearless Editing" clearly articulates the basic concepts underlying editing techniques and demonstrates their application for newspapers, public relations, magazines, and Web pages. This text takes a conceptual approach that integrates verbal skills with visual elements. Unlike other texts that are clearly designed for print, this book includes multimedia applications in every chapter. Features * Focuses on six concepts that underlie editing--priority, unity, contrast, clarity, beauty, and community--which makes it more interesting than traditional "how-to" approaches and provides a springboard for lively in-class discussions and ever-improving work. * Integrates visual learning in stages with verbal editing, so students see the connection between the two and gain a fuller context for their work with words. * Offers two chapters on graphics that explain mathematical and statistical practices and guide students to create sound and meaningful charts and graphs. * Integrates material on the Web and public relations throughout the text, preparing students to work in a variety of media throughout their careers. * Features a chapter on color, which is applicable to print and Web media.
