This study is entitled Feasibility of setting up a mutual health insurance plan. The objective is to determine the factors favoring the establishment of a mutual health insurance. This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, conducted among 384 heads of households in the city of Lubero. We used a questionnaire and discussion guide with the head doctor of the Lubero health zone, the head nurse, etc. The analysis was done by SPSS and the interpretation by the Chi-square test. The results reveal that: Of the social feasibility 86.5% of respondents belong to one of the associations, 95.2% perceive the spirit of solidarity. In terms of economic feasibility, 45.1% of respondents have an income of less than $30/month and 63.5% of respondents have an average expenditure for health care of less than or equal to $50/month. 82.3% are willing to join a mutual health insurance company. Of the institutional feasibility, among those who claim to be members of an association, more than 75.9%select their managers by election. 24 health care providers surveyed are all ready to welcome mutualists.
