In Thailand in the early '80s, American veteran Reno James exists untethered in an expat world of sunny beaches, cold beer, and beautiful girls. Intent on padding his bank account to secure his place in this exiled paradise, he jumps at the chance to profit from an illegal weapons venture and finds himself caught up in the Sri Lankan civil war. Exposing the underbelly of the religious conflict, Feeding the Tiger follows Reno and his fellow battle-scarred expats-surfer and former CIA assassin Longboard and one-legged former Airborne Ranger Raymond Marshall-as they try to expedite the arms deal so they can pay back the notorious Chinese triad that helped them get the contract. In war-torn Sri Lanka, however, things take an unexpected turn when Reno meets recently divorced Sandy, a Dutch surgeon volunteering with Doctors Without Borders. Separated from his partner, Longboard reverts to his training to get out alive. Meanwhile, back in Thailand, the triad is getting restless for its money. But when the triad goes a step too far, Reno and his fellow expats, schooled in search and destroy, devise their own special formula for retribution.
