Marriage partner selection, though something very close to us, has not been as simple and straight forward as the name denotes. Rather, it involves a lot of specialty and competence to accomplish. In fact, it has been a very serious and contentious subject of debate. In giving their contribution to this global phenomenon by which man and woman come together as legal partners, the authors have touched the process first before delving into the factors for such choice, including personality and interest alongside other physical and social characteristics. The authors have delved comprehensively on the pattern of choice within the Hausa folk, where a girl's character is a highly regarded factor in the process of marriage. The work is a good text for research and an excellent reference for all concerned in marriage and counseling. (Professor S. A. Yakasai)
