The international context has been setting the path for the adaptation of the domestic legislation of different countries with a view to guaranteeing the prevention, eradication and punishment of crimes committed in the context of gender violence. Its importance at the global level lies in the fact that the final -and fatal- outcome of the commission of this type of crime is the death of a woman by a man. Femicide -or feminicide- is the most extreme result of this manifestation, since it appears as the final epilogue of a violent situation, in which the victim, for not submitting to the designs of the man who seeks this result, finds death as a counterpart. For a homicide to be considered femicide, there must be an additional factor, which is the presence of one or more situations of gender violence against the female victim. This is the necessary characteristic for its classification. The statistics provide hard, certain and concrete data that indicate an increase in this crime.
