In 1980 s and 1990 s, discussing feminist theory and research in any discipline needs a courage in Turkey. Therefore, in 1998 this feminist research is conducted in Alibeyli village in Aegean region in Turkey. The research has its own theoretical structure to understand the social, economic and ideological actions of rural women in petty commodity producer households. Their experiences in a patriarchal society are not only directly related to their social actions but also their economic, political and ideological actions that are not independent from economy, culture and history. Moreover all actions of women are theorised as their subject positions refer their experiences and ideas about main structures of agriculture in Turkey like unpaid household labour, wage labour, sexual division of labour, subsistence economy and land. This study is a pioneer about rural woman with the claim of discussing feminist theory and methodology in Turkey hoping to encourage the young social scientists in spite of its limitations as a feminist study. This book should be interesting and also helpful for anybody who wonders about a woman study that is conducted for women by women with women.
