He earned renown for his 1965 screen adaptation of Dalmiro Sáenz's El pecado necesario. His film version of this work, Nadie oyó gritar a Cecilio Fuentes, marked his directorial debut and earned Siro a Silver Seashell at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
