In Fidelity & Constraint, Lawrence Lessig explains that one of the most basic approaches to interpreting the constitution is the process of translation. Indeed, some of the most significant shifts in constitutional doctrine are products of the translation process, the methods of which have shifted over time. In each new temporal context, judges understand their translations as instances interpretive fidelity. That is, judges 'translate; framing values according to whatever the current interpretive context is.
