The work examines financial efficiency of mergers and acquisitions in European financial sector, solves the problem how to forecast the outcome of such a sophisticated phenomenon.The aim of the work is to define criteria affecting the success of M&A. Based on the literature analysis, multi-criteria evaluation model for M&A transactions in Europe is created which will be further used investigating feasible alternatives. The work consists of three parts. First part provides literature analysis in order to define preconditions that drive the success of M&A transactions. Second part chooses and creates multi-criteria evaluation model, based on TOPSIS method and experts' weights. Third part provides practical aspect of the model considering three feasible alternatives. The examination of theoretical and practical parts is presented in the conclusion.
