This handbook outlines the problem of access to finance in sub-Saharan Africa in general and in the DRC in particular. It elucidates the three reasons why financing actors avoid counterparties. It is easier to understand from this study that the application of microfinance principles to the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises is certainly a path with potential but only finances small projects. On the other hand, the development of credit products enabling donors to feel secure, as well as the multiplication of guarantee funds and the use of non-bank institutions would have a fairly large impact on SME financing.
