Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are of critical economic importance to all economies, however, the general claim that lack of finance in its appropriate forms has continued to hinder their contributions and is of major concern to management scholars. This study hereby investigated the financing practices of entrepreneurs in SMEs in southwestern Nigeria. This study determined if there are differences in financing practices between small and medium enterprises; examined whether financing practices of these SMEs are dependent on internal and external financing; and also explored the relevance of the effectuation framework to the financing practices of these established SMEs.
