I do believe a lot of what I draw comes from within. The images of Indian Princesses and their horses have always been a part of my life. From a small child, I understand those feeling all so well. I lived with the love of many horses in my lifetime. They are still here in my heart and soul. So it comes very easily to me in an image. The love between a girl and her horse. I hope that comes across in what the one looking at the Image, sees and feels. Animals, Birds, Symbols, they all just seem to me to belong together. Autorenporträt
I was born and raised on the beautiful Mendocino Coast and spent my summers on our family ranch in Comptche, California. I went on to graduate from Mendocino Union High School and then spent some time in the San Franciso Bay area, where my daughter and son were born.I enjoyed many years at Clearlake, California, where working nights allowed me to expand my artistic abilities, completely self-taught. I strongly believe that my Southwestern Indian Art comes from within; inspired by my ancestors, that is traced back to the Cajun Choctaw Indians from Louisana.I come from a hard-working family of loggers and fishermen. My passions include my family, great friends, gardening, my home, my love for animals, and of course, my art. With the loss of my beloved life partner, I am still in the High Desert, with the majestic colors of fall. Nevada is truly a special place. My art is changing and evolving every day; it has opened doors that I didn't know were there!Sincerely, Gayle L. Daufel
