Despite some daunting challenges, she seems always to have fun-even when the fun is something as ordinary as cooking a meal or caring for a loved one. Undergirding all of her abilities and attitudes are her fundamental beliefs in hard work, treating people fairly, and a universal oneness that can help each of us find our way. INOCENCIA TUPAS MALUNES began life in a poor village in a rural area of the Philippines and obtained her education at great expense. While poverty was never far away, she remained true to her promise-made to her mother at a young age-to always look after her family. Throughout her various occupations and from locations far away from home, she never forgot thatcommitment, regularly sending money back home to help out. She credits hard work, tenacity, and courage as contributing to her success, and having overcome much hardship, she has found happiness and joy in fulfilling her life's purpose. Ms. Malunes lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with her husband of thirty-four years.
