Since his diagnosis, Don has run 18 marathons (4 internationally), completed a triathlon and a 100-mile bicycle ride, and raised over $100,000 for blood cancer research. Don Armstrong is a professional motivational, inspirational speaker and author. His primary reason to write and speak is the result of his life-changing battle with blood cancer. A leukemia survivor who has become a "life thriver" since his healing and recovery, Don is a passionate advocate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and a member of the North Texas LLS Board of Trustees. He is the Chairman of the Board of the North Texas Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society & previously served as the Vice Chairman of Special Events for the North Texas Chapter of LLS and was a member of LLS's National Board of Representatives. He serves as Chairman of Team in Training's (TNT) North Texas League, Chairman of LLS's North Texas Mission Task Force and Chairman of North Texas Blood Cancer Conference and Expo. As a TNT participant, Don has completed 22 marathons in the U.S. and internationally to raise money for LLS. He received the Chairman Citation in recognition of his outstanding efforts and support of LLS in 2013. Don is a member of the American Cancer Society's Speaker Bureau, and speaks on behalf of Carter Blood Care at donor and employee functions. He received the 2010 Advocate of the Year Award for his outstanding commitment to the community blood supply. Don is a founding board member, president and race director for the Honored Hero Run. This annual event has donated over $140,000 to LLS since it began in 2009. In addition, Don is an agronomic consultant in the golf course industry. He was a founding partner of the Golf Resources Group, a golf course consulting firm. Prior to becoming a consultant he served as the golf course superintendent at the prestigious Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where he prepared the golf course for six PGA Tour events. Don holds a degree in Agronomy from Virginia Tech and lives in Fort Worth, Texas.
