Mohamed Gadala is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with forty years' experience in academia/industry. Currently, he is head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Abu Dhabi University in the United Arab Emirates. His research focuses on computational/experimental mechanics, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Professor Gadala taught in many universities world-wide including twenty-six years at UBC. He has twelve years' industrial experience in Canada/USA and published more than 200 refereed papers, three patents, and fifteen key-note presentations. He developed and taught FEA courses in the University of Michigan, UBC and other universities. Dr Gadala was appointed Patrick Campbell Chair in Design (two terms) in UBC; established the PACE lab (Partners for Advancement of CAE Education); won various industry-university awards including the NSERC University-Industry Synergy award; and directed the development of the FEA commercial program and writing its manuals.
