Firq-i Ysuf is a collection of elegies written by the Urdu poet Mir Babbar Ali Anis in the 19th century. The elegies commemorate the Battle of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Anis is considered one of the greatest poets in the Urdu language, and his works are still widely recited and studied today by Muslims in South Asia and beyond. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
