In this political satire about escapism, Brensin, a hero back from exile, assembles a ragtag team in his quest to save the country. There is Masothelio, the mage. There is Jin, the thief. There is Gullin, the bard. There is Rainn. Together, they scale the mountain, escape from the dragon, find the magical amulet, and return just in time for Brensin's assassination on page 9. The others scramble. Each on their own, they struggle with the fallout of Brensin's death. Betrayed, Masothelio submerges himself in a new role. Jin and Gullin struggle to escape the problems of their daily lives, crushed by their reality. Rainn gets pulled into a fictional world made just for him. Flight of Fools blurs the line between what is fantasy and what is real. It pokes holes in the page until there is nothing left to keep the real world from seeping in, and nothing left to stop the ending from reaching out to clutch your chest and squeeze.
