Kurt Weissen hat sich 2001 an der Universität Basel habilitiert und ist seit 2007 außerplanmäßiger Professor für Geschichte des Mittelalters am Historischen Seminar der Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg. Er arbeitet über Fragestellungen zur Banken- und Sozialgeschichte von Florenz.
