The floristic composition of the 500 River Nile Islands within the Egyptian borders is of national and global importance, this topic still needs clarification. Out of these islands 46 were selected to this study representing the protected and non-protected islands. This study focused on floristic composition, factors affecting the species spatial distribution and species chorological affinities with special reference to the migration routes of some indicator species. The floristic study of the selected islands indicated the presence of 151 species belonging to 48 families of the vascular plants. Comparative study between the floristic composition of the protected and non-protected islands were discussed. Auto-taxonomy of Amaranthus hybridus L. the crop potential species was extensively studies including molecular details.
