Elizabeth Eede is a woman who has faced twenty years of cancer with courage and hope. Although she is grateful for the kindness of her doctors and nurses for their excellent care, it was a near death experience that opened her to the mystery and beauty of life. In Flowers from the Dark her poems take us through the dark days of despair, and her growing self-knowledge, to being awakened to the wonder of the world through dreams and mystical insights. In her writing she gives us the gifts of courage, hope and meaning to take on our own journey.

Autorenporträt
Elizabeth Eede was born in Winnipeg, but her family moved to a farm on Vancouver Island when she was seven years old. She was mostly home-schooled and found her friends in books and the forest where she discovered wildflowers and animals - even a cougar! She trained as a teacher, attending Victoria College and Normal school, and spent the next forty years with young children, opening their hearts and minds to music and the love of words. Elizabeth also spent several years in New York where she opened a successful pre-school and organized a crisis line serving the needs of undervalued people. In later years Elizabeth returned to Victoria where she became a Reiki master, a counsellor and educator and opened her home to groups for sharing retreats and various speakers, working closely with Sister Eileen Curteis and the Reiki community. Her philosophy is: "There is a gift in everything, you just have to look for it!"
