We describe the results aimed at determining in the commune of preschool Peñaflor, with 0.6 mg F / L, prevalence, severity of dental caries and fluoride intake on a sample of 74 children from 3 to 5 years from low socioeconomic levels. To establish the percentage of caries-free children, we used the methodology described by WHO and the severity we used the dmft index. Fluoride intake was determined by measuring in a sample of urine excretion fluoride and creatinine concentration. The percentage of caries-free children reached 43.2%. The prevalence and severity of decay was increased with increasing the age group studied. For children ages 3, 4, and 5 years caries-free rates of 50%, 51.6%, 69.6% and dmft of 1.3, 2.51, 2.52. The prevalence showed a percentage of caries-free children from 38.9% for men and 47.4% for women and a dmft index 2.41 and 1.97. The daily dose of fluoride intake for total children was 65.64 g F / kg / Day, a value that is within the recommended range as the optimal dose of fluoride. There is a fluoride intake that doesn t come from drinking water, with a value of 45 g F / kg / Day. This contribution would come mainly from the ingestion of fluoride toothpaste
