¿WHAT IS HAIKU? Before entering the field of Haiku, the reader must accept that they are dealing with a different style of poetry. The poet, within a magical brevity, invites him to recreate the images of the place where he is; without expressing opinions or concepts of their own. To savor and delight in this very special poetic genre, he must learn to identify the symbols with which he identifies what nature places in front of his eyes; simplicity, brevity, color, sound, or silence; all within the instant it happens. Each Haiku consists of three verses, five, seven and five syllables respectively, but it is not a short text of fifteen syllables as a total sum. Its essence goes beyond simple narrative; It contains philosophical concepts influenced by Indian Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Chinese and Japanese Zen.
