The results of the analysis indicate that this dialectally-marked form is much more complex than initially thought and that it constitutes an excellent case of IP-internal focalization.

Received a dual PhD in Linguistics and Hispanic Linguistics from Indiana University in 2009. While she specializes in syntax, she has also conducted research on the effects of prosody in requests and Spanish word order and on socio-pragmatic change in discourse markers and forms of address in Colombian Spanish.
