Immunodeficiency is defined as an inability to produce a normal complement of antibodies or immunologically sensitized T cells especially in response to specific antigens.Immunodeficiency disorders occur when the body's immune response is reduced or absent. Immunodeficiency disorders may affect any part of the immune system. Most often, these occur when special WBC called T or B lymphocytes (or both) do not function normally or your body does not produce enough antibodies.Children with defects in antibody production, phagocytic cells, or complement proteins have recurrent infections with encapsulated bacteria and may grow and develop normally despite their recurring infections. Oro-dental management of Immunocompromised patients includes identification and elimination of the existing sources of infection in the oral cavity. This will be followed by the education of the patient and the parents about the oral care importance to minimize oral problems in future. In patients with good oral hygiene, a special emphasis should be laid on the education for dental health. Parents also along with patients having poor oral hygiene should be motivated to improve their oral health level.
