This book is a thread of reflections, capturing Christ-centered ramblings between me and the One whose stories we have in the biblical biography of Mark. This book is a thread of reflections, capturing Christ-centered ramblings between me and the One whose stories we have in the biblical biography of Mark. I began with Mark because it is the oldest gospel and because the Gospel is a full companion for those following Jesus. I don't cover every passage. I sample from Mark and in doing so I'm angling to offer one reflection for each week of the year. Jesus was clear and these reflections aim to be clear. They include a scriptural text, a reflection, guiding questions, a prayer, and a blessing. I also include one next step in keeping with my theme of following Jesus. We follow one step at a time. The text is a passage from the Gospel. The reflection is what I have to say about that passage. Guiding questions intend to offer you material to consider throughout the week, perhaps material to discuss in conversation with a trusted friend or a small circle of followers. Prayers will capture the themes of the reflection and are already engaging God (so they may not come with a title/address for the God we're already walking with). Each blessing will name something about God and/or, I hope, about you. These reflections offer honest God-talk. Of course, you'll evaluate that. For my part, if you come away leaning further into the Gospel; opening yourself to the possibility of Jesus' love; or experiencing the sense of having been with God, my work will be worthy.
