With a population of 144.4 million living in an area of only 147,570 square kilometers (56,977 square miles). About 75 percent of the country's population lives in rural areas. Hardcore poor people have less access to even agriculture. This is why they are most vulnerable and has no other means to develop their economic condition. So, govt. has to be responsible to feed these poor populations. Various types of food and other prorammes are being running in the Upazila level. The government has been following a combination of direct and indirect safety net programs for poverty eradication addressing both human and income poverty. However, despite having a large number of programs under the safety net, the rate of poverty reduction has not been satisfactory. It is thus crucial to scrutinize the impact of the existing safety net programs on poverty reduction in Bangladesh and identify the kind of programs that would be more suitable to the socio-economic condition of the country. VGDis one of the most well-known programmes running to feed these extreme poor people. Therefore, the significance of studying on this programme is much more required to identify the impacts of this programme
