Among the many difficult tasks faced by the Soviet people during the war, the problem of providing the front and the home front with food was one of the most important economic and social problems. Food is the basis for the existence of any human society at all stages of its development. In wartime conditions, when the hard trench life, constant physical and mental stress exhausted and depleted the human body, a healthy and nutritious food could restore and create the living minimum necessary for soldiers at the front. The book, based on new archival documents and previously published works, explores the development and activities of one of the major sectors of the national economy of the republic food industry.
