This study is conducted in the context of a threat to food security based on certain indicators. The objective of this research is to determine the indicators of this threat through the types of food insecurity in the Fokontany of Mahitsihazo between fishing households and agricultural households. The method used is a nine (09) item questionnaire on food insecurity and household reactions. The comparison of the conditions related to household food insecurity, the scale score related to household food insecurity, and the prevalence related to household food insecurity allowed us to determine that there is an alarming rate of food insecurity. The analysis of food insecurity indicators in the Fokontany shows the existence of two (02) types of food insecurity: severe food insecurity in each of the two (02) types of households with respectively 52.08% of agricultural households against 49.00% of fishing households, and moderate food insecurity with respectively 47.92% of agricultural households against 51.00% of fishing households.
