Food wastes occur before, during or after food preparation in hotels, as well as food discarded during manufacturing, distribution, retail and food service activities. The food wastes from Addis Ababa city are directly disposed in to a land filed. This indicates that food waste management is poor and results in economic lose, environmental pollution and affects the health of its habitants. The most important step in reducing food waste is to avoid its creation. The population should focus on real needs of nutrition and choose to avoid over-buying, over-ordering and over preparing food and thereby avoid dumping. Individuals, households and business should not waste precious food.
