Autorenporträt
Heidi Mckearney is best known for her passion for animals and activism against animal cruelty. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Massachusetts; Heidi was born into a family of six sisters and two brothers, and now the proud mother of four sons and three grandchildren. Outside of her healthcare profession at a local community hospital, Heidi volunteers at a veterinary animal hospital in a neighboring town and assists with spays and neuters in effort to decrease the population of unwanted cats and dogs. Besides her volunteer work at the animal hospital, Heidi also dedicates her time with a local charitable organization that raises awareness to the plight of street dogs of Asia as well as the victims of the illegal dog meat trade to which many have been saved and found loving homes around the world. Heidi knew as a young child that advocating for animals was her calling in life. A visit to Bangkok, Thailand and the Buriram dog shelter in Northeastern Thailand that housed over a thousand dog meat trade survivors further inspired her to want to make a difference. Heidi has always supported the work of the local animal shelters, but since her adoption of two Thai rescue dogs, it has been her mission to raise awareness about the heinous and barbaric dog meat trade.
