Composting has become increasingly popular as a biological treatment process for organic solid wastes, with the purpose of recovery, stabilization and volume reduction of waste materials in the form of compost. The importance of composting in the field of solid waste management and its technological aspects are critically discussed. This book emphasizes the current practices of different composting systems with especial interest on forced aeration composting process, experimentation and development of the mathematical models. It also describes the factors affecting the composting process and measurement techniques of product quality. The research outcome and models presented in this book can be used for a better understanding of the forced aeration composting process in existing composting plants and may help in the design and operation of future plants. It may be used as a reference book of composting by post-graduate students, researchers and consultants in the field of environmental technology, engineering, and science.
