Over time, human development goals and recently environment have become areas of important focus to provide aid by donors. In this, environment as one development goal has not attained the required attention before 1980s. Following the 1980s, however, particularly in 2000, ensuring environmental sustainability has become key development goal and is one of the MDGs for which donors entered into political commitment to provide aid for poor countries such as Ethiopia. Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries that have endorsed the MDGs. The role of foreign aid towards ensuring environmental sustainability in Ethiopia in the period spanning 2006-2010 is the theme of this book. The book offers the trend of environmental related aid projects financed by bilateral donors, shows the donors financial commitment to finance projects for improving environment and sectors of environment mainly targeted by them. The book also puts in plain words as to why donors finance other development projects while not prioritizing environmental related aid projects. The book lastly evaluates factors for the poor performance and management of EIA when development projects are implemented.
