The monograph is dedicated to the problem of cultural identity as a result of foreign cultural impact. The conceptualization of cultural and historical material makes it possible to position the antinomy "foreign-national" as a constitutive element of the Russian cultural tradition of New and Modern times. "Foreign Culturality" is considered to be the immanent beginning of the Russian national identity, otherwise it is a factor of national identity. In the work the character of cultural-historical relations between Russia and Europe is considered, the character of the dichotomy of "foreign and self-made" is revealed, the essence and main dimensions of the cultural dilemma "Russia versus Europe" in the dispute between Slavophiles and Westerners are revealed, the cultural-historical significance of the idea of Pan-Slavism as a factor of national and cultural identity is shown, the conceptual bases forming the dynamics of subcultural relations as a condition of cultural unity are analyzed. The research materials can be used in the preparation of general and special courses on the history of Russian culture, history and theory of culture, as well as for teachers, postgraduates and students of higher education institutions.
