This book is intended to protect wildlife and forests through deploying a wireless sensor network across the large areas of forests. The researchers are working on the wireless sensor networks facing the problems of coverage in term of sensing and communication range. Undulant ground, foliage, water bodies, villages and valleys within the forest are the constraints in view to estimate the actual sensing and communication range of any sensors. Reason why the deployment of the sensor nodes across the large areas of several hundreds of kilometers of forest is a challenging problem. Targeting an architecture based design and deployment of the layered wireless sensor network. The system design includes layered wireless sensor network architecture, sensor nodes deployment strategies, data routing schemes and a user interface at the base station. The method is based on the heuristic selection of the area into the uniform square grid topology of sensor nodes.
